Barbara K. Patterson, 60, Rockford, died at 3:15 p.m. Monday, February 16, 2009 in University of Wisconsin Medical Center, Madison, WI. Born December 24, 1948 in Rockford, daughter of Angus and Elizabeth Smith Shull. Graduated from Muldoon High School in 1966 and married Gary W. Patterson on November 26, 1966. Employed by Rockford Housing Authority for 15 years. Member of St. Edward Catholic Church. Barb loved to read, garden, travel and make rosaries. She was a best friend to many, most importantly, to her devoted husband Gary, who will always love her and miss her more than words can say. Her most treasured times were when she was surrounded by her family, especially her grandchildren, who were the loves of her life and she enjoyed supporting all of their activities and sporting events. Survivors include her husband, Gary; children, Beth (Rick) Ranken, Lori (Erich) Luhrs and Stephanie (Tim) Wilburn; grandchildren, Allison and Anna Ranken, Josh and Abby Luhrs and Michael and Jack Wilburn. Also survived by her sister, Pat Hoffman; brothers, Angus (Karen) Shull, Bill (Mary) Shull and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents. The family would like to thank the staff at the University of Wisconsin Medical Center for the loving care and respect that Barb received there. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 21, 2009 in St. Edward Catholic Church with Rev. Michael G. Black officiating. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday in Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Visistation also from 9:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. at the church on Saturday. Memorials may be made to the family to be distributed to Barbaras special charities.
