Barbara Jane Van Laeke

Barbara Jane Van Laeke, 87 of Rockford passed away Thursday September 1, 2016 at her home following an extended period of Alzheimer’s disease. She was born December 23, 1928 in Rockford . She was the daughter of Martin and Mabel (Kuckhan) Dolan. She was preceded in death by her brothers Robert and Donald Dolan, and sisters Doris Shoaf and Mary Byrem. Barb worked at the 7th Street Sweet Shop and later became a beautician for Martha Harper Salon. She loved being a homemaker, and always put others before herself. Her passions were cooking, reading cookbooks, shopping and tending to her flowers. She had a great love for her family, friends and all creatures’ on earth. She leaves behind her husband of 67 years, Arthur Van Laeke, three daughters, Georgia Van Laeke, Rhonda Van Laeke, (Denny Lemonds), and Kim Van Laeke. She also leaves behind four grandchildren, Doug (Traci) Dannenberg, Brad ( Tracy ) Dannenberg, Sierra Van Laeke, and Damien Van Laeke, along with six great grandchildren, Bryce, Ty, Kobey, River, Evelynn, and Ivy Dannenberg. Special niece, Sheryl Girardi and her daughters, Tiffani, Courtnee, and Ashleigh.
Her family would like to thank the incredible hospice team from Heartland Hospice that cared beyond everyone’s expectations, her RN, Janine, her CNA’s, Cathy and Crystal for their incredible support and care. A private family service will be held at Calvary Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association P.O.
