Barbara J. Mackenzie

Barbara J. MacKenzie (Comfert), 88, Loves Park, IL, passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, June 15, 2021. Born in Fargo, North Dakota on May 3, 1933 and later relocating to Rockford, IL ,Barbara married her beloved husband of 59 years, George R. MacKenzie who preceded her in death in 2005. Barbara retired from Amrock after 30 years of service. In their spare time, Barbara and George spent their Saturday nights dancing the night away at the Belvidere Moose Club. Barbara was a member of the Woman of the Moose, where members dedicate countless volunteer hours each year to provide social, educational, and community benefits. A life of service and gratitude, Barbara welcomed all into their home where the dinner table, and Barbara’s home cooking, brought together community and family.
Survived by her four children Craig (Theresa) MacKenzie, Lynn (Rick) Sneath, Pam (Mike) Sneath, and Karen MacKenzie, 11 Grandchildren, 21 Great Grandchildren, and One Great-great Grandchild. Barbara is preceded in death by her Parents Curly and Estella Bess (Beddow), Brothers Roger (Mary) Comfert, Ray (Glady) Hines, and two grandsons. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 pm, Friday, July 2, 2021, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 3910 N Rockton Ave, Rockford, IL. The Funeral will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, July 3, 2021, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home in Rockford, IL followed by burial at Willwood Burial Park, 7000 West State Street, Rockford, IL 61102. Following the burial please join the family for a luncheon at the Belvidere Moose Club located at 575 Beloit Rd. Belvidere, IL 61008.
