Barbara J. Baldwin, 88, of Rockton, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2023.
Barbara was born in Shawneetown, IL on August 6, 1934, daughter of Roy and Helen (Maynard) Nolen. Barbara married Raymond E. Baldwin on January 17, 1949. A few years later, they moved to Harvard, Illinois raising their family and starting their careers. Barbara worked for Admiral, Lippy’s TV & Appliances, and Seeley’s Sun Drugs. In 1976, Ray retired from Ferris Brothers and the family moved to Bentonville, Arkansas. Barbara had several jobs and she never met a stranger. She loved to talk! She retired from the Benton County Tax Assessor’s Office. Barbara also took pride in helping her husband run his business, Ray’s Auto Repair. She was also a member of the Baptist Church in Bentonville. Barbara was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and enjoyed cheering on the Arkansas Razorbacks in basketball. She loved to dance showing off her fancy footwork while doing the “Shawneetown Stomp”. She loved, loved, loved to shop and always had a Dr. Pepper in her hand! She loved living her life in Arkansas and spending time with family and welcomed everyone to her home. In 2017, Barbara and Ray moved to Rockton, IL to enjoy time with family and loved ones.
Surviving relatives include her husband, Raymond E. “Perk” Baldwin; children, Raymond L. (Karin) Baldwin, Rick Baldwin (Cindy Stricko) and Rhonda (Paul) Sunden; grandchildren, Raymond J. Baldwin, Ronnie (Barb) Baldwin, Austin and Parker Baldwin, Becky (Brian) Smith, Jerrad (Darby) Stubbs, Eric (Izabela) Sunden and Amy (Scott) McKendry; numerous great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; siblings, Jack Nolen, Donald “Frog” Nolen, Jim “Shawnee” (Ann) Nolen, Sue (Donnie) Showers, Brenda Lester and Larry (Sharon) Nolen; numerous nieces and nephews. Barbara is predeceased by her parents; brother, John “Bubby” Nolen and sister, Betty Nolen; sister-in-law, Kathern Nolen and brother-in-law, Danny Lester.
A family graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2023, at Mount Auburn Cemetery, Harvard, IL. A Celebration of Life Open House will also be held that evening from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Roscoe Community Center, 4562 Hononegah Rd. Roscoe, IL 61073.
