Barbara Ellen Barber

Barbara Ellen Barber, 86, of Rockford, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, April 18, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Barbara was born on March 16, 1939, in Battle Creek, Michigan, the daughter of William E. and Bertha L. (Baker) Davison. She married the love of her life, Luther “Bob” L. Barber, on April 23, 1977, in Rockton, Illinois.

Barbara was known for her quick wit, generous heart, and vibrant spirit. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life—watching golf and court shows on TV, trips to the casino, playing bingo, and sharing laughter and jokes with her family. Her playful charm came through in her favorite phrase, “just a little bit,” which she used often, whether she was teasing or showing affection. Barbara also found great strength in her faith and enjoyed watching multiple church services throughout the week. Her home was always a welcoming place, full of love, laughter, and joy.

She is survived by her children, Donald Ulery, Michelle (Curt) Holm, Judy (Steve) Carter, William (Beth) Boyle, and James Boyle; her siblings, Marie Wigtion, Paula McCaslen and Raymond (Diane) Davison; her daughter-in-law, Mary Ulery; and many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob; her son, Randy Ulery; and two siblings, Joyce and Bill.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd., Rockford, IL 61108. Burial will follow at Arlington Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family of Barbara.
