B. Jean Winquist

B. Jean Winquist, 93, of Rockford, died peacefully on Thursday, October 8, 2015, in her home. She was born on August 31, 1922; the daughter of Charles and Marie (Sahn) Skare. Jean married Ronald Winquist on May 22, 1943. She helped her husband on the family farm for many years. Jean retired after 22 years as head cook at New Milford and Skyview Schools. After retirement, Jean helped take care of her mother and father and great granddaughters.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Karen Olson-Pitkus of Rockford; grandchildren, Jim Olson, Dana (Lance) Caldwell; and great granddaughters, Nicole and Cassie Caldwell. She is predeceased by her parents, her husband, and siblings, Charles “Bud” Skare Jr. and Laverne Cleveland. A special thank you to Jean’s caregiver Myrna, and Heartland Hospice for all their loving care.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Monday, October 12, 2015; at New Milford United Methodist Church, 7102 Cindy Dr., Rockford, IL, 61109; with burial immediately following at New Milford Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until time of service on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Jean’s family. Funeral arrangements by Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 1860 S.
