August “Augie” J. Martelin, 88, of Rockford, passed away Saturday, January 5, 2019 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. Born September 23, 1930 in Rockford; the son of John and Anna (Wardin) Martelin.
A U.S. Army Veteran, Augie retired from Sundstrand after more than 20 years of employment. He was a graduate of East High School, class of ’49 and Milwaukee School of Engineering.
An avid Green Bay Packers fan, Augie enjoyed golf, Sudoku puzzles, traveling, Model T Ford cars, tinkering around the house, walking his dogs, meeting with his morning buddies at McDonald’s for coffee and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his special friend and former wife, Gloria Martelin; children, Lori (Mel) Rapovy, John Martelin, Robert (Brinda) Martelin and Kari (Lee) McKinney; grandchildren, Tyler, Alison (Kyle), Kody (Ashley), Briana, Matthew, Shelby and Alyssa; great-grandchildren, Graham and Ava.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral service 11 a.m., Friday, January 11, 2019, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford.
