Audrey M. O'Connor

Audrey Marie O'Connor, 84, of Rockford passed away Thursday, June 17, 2021 at Ascension Saint Anne Place, embracing Our Lord, surrounded by her family.

She was born January 17, 1937, in Chicago, IL, daughter of George and Pauline (Motko) Hroma, Sr. On May 18, 1957 she married her husband of 54 years, Harvey O’Connor, in Chicago. Audrey loved her Catholic faith and family. She devoted her life to raising her 8 children and welcomed every grandchild with joy. Audrey enjoyed welcoming every newborn by gifting receiving blankets. Always a faithful prayer warrior, she kept a vast prayer list and consistently would inquire about those who were in her prayers. Audrey also carried on her Slovak family tradition of holiday baking.

She is survived by 8 devoted children, George O'Connor of Meridian, ID; Adriene (Gerald) Grzenia, of Lake in the Hills, IL; Daniel (Camille) O'Connor of Athol, ID; Colleen (Ken) Schroepfer of Pecatonica; Sister Mary Charbel of Browerville, MN; Shawn O'Connor of Indianapolis, IN; Anne (John) Pfeiffer of Downers Grove, IL; Mary Beth (Patrick) Schwager of Wonder Lake, IL; 37 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; siblings, Sister M. Georgine, OSF, Pauline (Tom) Linane, Marie Ligurotis and John (Beverly) Hroma; numerous nieces and nephews. Audrey is predeceased by her grandsons, Beckett, Dominic, Matthew and Peter; parents and brothers, George and Raymond.

Requiem Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. with visitation from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass at St. Mary Oratory, 517 Elm St. Rockford, IL 61102 with Canon Matthew Talarico as celebrant. Visitation will also be held on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford, IL 61108 with Rosary at 7:30 p.m. Final resting place will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
