Arlene Marie Hardin, 82, of Rockford died Monday, July 25, 2016 at Alden Park Strathmoor. Born May 2, 1934 in Cleveland, Ohio the daughter of John Stanko and Eleanor (Laco) Stanko-Keberdle. Married her loving husband William Hardin on July 10, 1954 in Ohio and lived there until they moved to Rockford in 1972. Arlene worked for Sears Roebuck and Co. for 19 years retiring in 1998. A faithful member of St. Rita Catholic Church, she was an avid volunteer for several years. Arlene was a talented crafter and loved making ceramics, baking delectable desserts and traveling with friends. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and a true friend; her smile and warm heart will be greatly missed. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the nurses and staff at Alden Park Strathmoor for their compassionate care and time they gave Arlene during her short time there.
Survivors include her children, Brenda (Danny) Martin, Brian Hardin, John (Natasha) Hardin, Joseph (Kellie) Hardin and Mary Elizabeth Hardin; grandchildren, David, Nathanael, Clark, Wesley, Charlie and Eleanor Hardin and Emily Butler; 8 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; brothers, Donald (Carol) Stanko and Charles (Donna) Keberdle; sister, Marylyn (Stan) Galganski and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents; step-parents, Frank Keberdle and Vivien Stanko; son, William H.; brother, John Stanko III; brothers-in-law, George and Robert Hardin and sister-in-law, Betty Little.
Funeral Mass Friday, July 29, 2016 at 10 a.m. at St. Rita Catholic Church 6254 Valley Knoll Dr., Rockford. Interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation Thursday, July 28, 2016 from 5-8 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with a Rosary Service at 8:15 p.m. Visitation continues on Friday at church from 9 a.m. until time of prayer at 9:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorials in her name to St. Rita Catholic Church.
