Antoinette "Toni" Johnson

Antoinette (Toni) M. Johnson, 93, of Rockford, died Monday, May 2, 2016 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. Born July 21, 1922 in Rockford, IL the daughter of John and Theodosia (Mauszewski) Segalla. Married her loving husband, Edward (Speed) E. Johnson and together they had 8 beautiful children. A former member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and a current member of Cathedral of St. Peter for over 30 years. She enjoyed playing cards with many friends throughout her life, especially Bridge during her years at Sienna. Toni also loved music, playing the guitar and singing with her sisters in a band in her early years. When not busy with her children and grandchildren she took time to garden and can many vegetables out of her acre garden. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Sister Marie Ange and the nurses and CNA’s at Provina for their wonderful care and also to all of the nurses and staff on 4W at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center, for the exceptional care they gave during the last few days.
Survivors include her children Gay R. (William) Brown, Sunnie J. (Charles) McGuire, Cheerie A. (Larry) Ohda, Glorie A. (Tim) Malone, John E. and David T. (Tammy) Johnson; 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and sister, Florence (Reno) Curry. Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Edward (Speed) Johnson two daughters, Joy Heckman and Merrily Marchetti, brother, Johnny Segalla and sisters, Julie Nozzi, Theresa (Roser) LaFontaine and Audrey Malotkie.
Funeral Mass Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at 10:30 am at Cathedral of St. Peter. Visitation at church from 9 a.m. until time of prayer at 10:15 a.m. Interment will be held at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Winnebago.
