Anthony “Tony” J. Kelam, 42, of Rockton, died suddenly on May 4, 2019. Born November 24, 1976, in Evergreen Park, IL, the son of James & Janice (Haper) Kelam. Graduated from Hononegah High School, class of 1994 and later attended Rock Valley College. He worked for Gunite Corporation for the last 15 months.
Tony was active with Celebrate Recovery with Heartland Community Church, where he loved the Lord and enjoyed reading his Bible. Those who knew him would say he was kind hearted, non-judgmental and always saw the good in people.
An avid sportsman he was very competitive and enjoyed fishing, playing baseball, tossing bags and golfing with his friends. He enjoyed watching the Chicago Bears and Chicago White Sox, a true “South Sider”.
Family was important to Tony he loved spending time them, especially his nieces and nephews. Survivors include parents; sister, Marcie (Tim) Massa; brother Nick (Julie) Kelam; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Predeceased by maternal and paternal grandparents.
Service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Heartland Community Church, 1280 S Alpine Rd, Rockford, IL 61108. Visitation from 4 – 9 pm Friday, May 10, 2019 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd., Rockford, IL 61108 and from 10 a.m. until time of service Saturday at church. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to Rockford Rescue Mission in Tony's honor.
