Annette Messina 91 of Rockford passed away peacefully Wednesday November 11, 2015 in Presence Saint Anne Center. She was born December 20, 1923 in Rockford, the daughter of Michael and Mary (Ferro) Messina. Annette worked for over 40 years for Bergner’s Department store starting out as a sales clerk, becoming a buyer and eventually becoming the manager of the store at North Towne Mall. She enjoyed her career there very much. Member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church where she also served as Eucharistic Minister. Annette was devoted to the Catholic Church and her family. She tirelessly cared for her parents, brother, Frank and uncle, Dominic until their deaths, providing excellent and compassionate care. Although she never had children of her own, her nieces and nephews, and even her great-nieces and nephews were her children. Annette was one of the most kind, caring and compassionate people around and she will be very missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include her brothers, Dominic Messina of Rockford and Steve (Audrey) Messina of Rockford. Numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents. Brothers Frank and Anthony. Sisters-in-law, Rose and Helen Messina and special uncle, Dominic Messina.
The family would like to thank the staff at Presence Saint Anne Center and Heartland Hospice for their care and compassion.
