Annette M Levi

Annette M. Levi, 78, Rockford, passed away Sunday, February 14, 2016 in her home. She was born April 9, 1937, in DeKalb, Illinois, the daughter of James and Mabel (Bergstrom) Dongas. She graduated from DeKalb High school in 1955. On April 26, 1958, she married the love of her life, Laverne Levi, at Mission Covenant Church, in DeKalb, Illinois. She worked many clerical jobs over the years, both in DeKalb and Rockford, but the job she felt most passionate about was her role as a wife, mother, Nana, and Great Nana. She enjoyed baking cookies, feeding and caring for birds, playing piano, spending time at her family cabin in Eagle River, Wisconsin, and playing Bunco with her Bunco Girls for over 45 years. Annette was an avid reader and adoring sports fan, whether it was her grandchildren or professional sports. She was a loyal member of Spring Creek United Church of Christ, and former, proud member of their choir. She was a devoted wife to Laverne, loving mother to her children and grandchildren. Annette was a woman who lived selflessly, compassionately, and will be missed dearly.
She is survived by her children, Cheryl (Kevin) McCauley of DeKalb and Paul (Jan) Levi of Belvidere; her grandchildren, Lindsey (Ryan) Thompson, Kristen (Colin Fannon) Levi, Michael, Matthew and Ben Levi; her greatgrandchildren, Wesley, Henry, and Charley; her brother Jack (Karen) Myers; sister in-law Carol (Dennis) Botnen; brothers in-law, Larry (Melody) Levi and Donald Scott; numerous nieces and nephews, and many special friends and neighbors. Predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Laverne Levi, her son, Michael A. Levi, her sister, Ruthie Scott, and her parents.
Funeral Service will be Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. at Spring Creek United Church of Christ, 4500 Spring Creek Road, Rockford, with Pastor Ivan Schoen officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until time of service at the church. Interment Arlington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Spring Creek United Church of Christ in Annette’s honor appreciated.
