Anna Mae Wright

Anna Mae Wright, 87, of Rockford, died Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at River Bluff Nursing Home with her family at her side. Born September 25, 1929 in New Vienna, Iowa the daughter of Frank and Sophia (Vonderhaar) Wilgenbusch. Anna was a registered nurse and worked for the VA Hospital in Chicago, Mercy Hospital in Dubuque, then coming to Rockford and working for Rockford Memorial Hospital for 26 years until her retirement. A member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church and former member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, she belonged to the choir and the senior group at St. Patrick’s and the 20 year club at RMH. She was a fun and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister who adored her family and many friends. She will be missed dearly by them all. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to River Bluff Nursing Home and the Dove Unit staff, as well as Heartland Hospice.
Survivors include her daughters, Marcia (Dennis) Adams of Winnebago and Debbie (Mark) Russell of Rockford; grandchildren, Penny Russell, Christy Russell – Birkett, Mindy Morgan, Caroline Casper, Andrea Enderle, Veronica Costello, and Christina Adams; great grandchildren, Nicholas, Jaden, Danielle, Christian, Ashley, Alyssa, Steve, Jackson, Noelle, Savannah and Callie; sister, Esther Knutson, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; 8 siblings and 2 daughters; Terri and Lisa Wright, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass Friday, May 12, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 2505 School Street with visitation from 9:30 until time of prayer at 10:15 a.m. Interment will be held in Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Winnebago. In lieu of flowers-memorials in her name for Mass Intentions, Heartland Hospice, or River Bluff.
