Ann G. Wemmer, 78 a lifelong resident of Rockford, died on Saturday, July 7, 2007 at Provena Cor Mariea. Born August 17, 1928, daughter of Walter and Veronica (Vaskelis) Soroka. Anns parents, brother and sisters were all born in Lithuania. She was the only child to be born here in America but was always very proud of her heritage and loved to share it with her family. She married her loving husband Arthur E. Wemmer on November 9, 1947. He preceded her in death on Oct. 12, 1982. While Ann was a homemaker most of her life, after the death of her husband she went to Rockford Business College to brush up on her business skills to re-enter the work force. For 19 years she was employed by the T K Group Inc. She loved her job and with the exception of a snow storm or icy roads, she never missed a day of work. Ann was a member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Survivors include her children, Elizabeth Beth Minnick and John (Beth) Wemmer both of Rockford; grandchildren, Tara (Thomas) LaSalla of St. Petersburg FL, Laura Minnick of Rockford, Garth Wemmer of Chicago and Alex Wemmer of Rockford; sister-in-law, Vicki Soroka of Rockford and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brother, Joe Soroka and two sisters, Nellie Gibas and Mary Italis. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, July 12, 2007 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation from 5:30-7:30pm on Wednesday, July 11 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N.
