Anita Marie Nanni, 88, of Rockford, passed away on Friday, August 2, 2024.
Anita was born in Rockford on September 20, 1935, daughter of Frank and Nancy (Gulotta) Giardono. She graduated from West High School and worked as a receptionist for Dr. Frederick Dietz at the Rockford Clinic for many dedicated years. She married Peter D. Nanni on July 18, 1953. Anita was a lifetime member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church where she was also member of the Altar & Rosary Society. She enjoyed spending her time crocheting, cooking, knitting and doing various crafts. Anita cherished her time spent with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered most for her love of all people, especially children. Anita was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Surviving relatives include her children, Cheryl (Mike) Paris, Denise (Dan) Wright, Greg (Gigi) Nanni and Peter (Janet) Nanni; grandchildren, Gary (Tavia) Paris, Bryan McWilliams, Michelle (Drew) DeVlieger, Lisa (Matt) Ralston, Shane Wright, Chelsea Nanni, Kyle Nanni, Jessika Nanni and Olivia Nanni; 13 great-grandchildren; aunt Marie Gagliano; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and brother-in-law, Dario (Debbie) Nanni. She is predeceased by her parents, husband, Peter; brothers, Frank and Sam Giardono.
The family would like to give a special thank you to all staff, CNA's, and nurses at Alpine Fireside, especially Wanda, Darla, and Rosie. Also, special thanks to Northern Illinois Hospice, especially Stacy, for her support and always lending her shoulder to cry on.
Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until time of the Mass on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1010 Ferguson St. Rockford, IL 61102. Entombment will conclude in Calvary Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum, Winnebago, IL.
