Anita J. Collins

Anita J. Collins, age 73, of Davis Junction, IL, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2020 around 11:15 pm.

Anita was born in Rockford, IL on December 8, 1946, daughter of Owen Spurlock and Aubrey (Sharp) Spurlock. She graduated from Auburn High School, Class of 1964. Anita married Virgil G. Collins on July 23, 1966. Anita went on to graduate from Rock Valley College in 1979 with a degree in nursing. She worked in nursing for most of her adult life. She was the assistant director of nursing and the director of nursing at multiple locations. She later became the administrator at Alden Debes. Anita loved her career and was well-respected.

Even more than her work, Anita loved family. She cherished getting together with her loved ones. Anita enjoyed trips both short and long. One of her favorite activities to do, later in life, was traveling to casinos with her husband, brothers, and nephew. She will be loved and missed by all who knew her.

Those left to honor Anita’s memory include her husband, Virgil; son, Mark (Kathy) Collins; grandchildren, Andrew, Anthony, Noah, Mary, & Anita; brothers, Tom (Karen) Spurlock, Rob (Sarah) Spurlock, Steve Spurlock; sister-in-law, Donna Spurlock; along with several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Owen Spurlock and Aubrey Spurlock and step father James Reed; sister, Barbara Reed; brother Dale Spurlock.

Private family services will be held. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Final resting place will be in New Milford Cemetery.
