Angelo V. Cascio, 82, of Rockford passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family and friends, on Monday, January 14, 2019 at Swedish American Hospital. Born July 14, 1936, in Rockford, the son of Luca and Frances (Domico) Cascio. Angelo married Carmela Gaziano on April 30, 1966 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Angelo worked as a pizza maker at Maria’s and Shakey’s, at Amerock for over 20 years, and in retirement he worked at Logli’s and Schnuck’s stores. Angelo was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, where he served as an usher for many years and was involved in their senior association. Angelo enjoyed family gatherings, trips to the casino, walking, and biking. He was proud of his treasured hat collection and loved spending time with his special pets, Romeo, Luca, and Rosa. The Cascio Family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Kenton Lee, Comfort Keepers, the staff at Swedish American Hospital, and caregiver friends, John and Maryann Goral and Lyman and Fran Bassett.
Survived by his wife, Carmela; daughter, Mary Terese Cascio; siblings, Iggy (Shirley) Cascio, Luke (Nina) Cascio, Rosalie (Lenny) Bagnowski, Sal (Mary Jo) Cascio; in-laws, Joe Gaziano (Jacquie), Angelo Gaziano, Theresa Gaziano-Steffan (Ray) and Mary Gaziano; godchildren, Paul Steffan, Joe Cascio and Paula Johnson, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceded in death by his parents, Luca and Frances, siblings, Benny, Michael, Peter, Josephine, John, Antionette, Betty, Frank, and Mary; mother and father-in-law, Rose and Serafino Gaziano and sister-in-law, Jane Gaziano.
Funeral mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 21, 2019 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, with visitation from 9:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. Entombment in Calvary Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum.
