Angelo Philip Nicolosi, 74, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2024, at 9:05 p.m. at Javon Bea Mercy Hospital in Rockford, Illinois, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on July 2, 1950, in Rockford, Illinois, Angelo was the beloved husband of Pamela (Koral) Nicolosi and the proud father of four children: Philip (Tricia) Nicolosi, Eli Nicolosi, Cara (Toby) Lask, Rachel (Joel) Marik. He was also the loving grandfather of Angelo Nicolosi; Luciana, Bianca, Gianni, and Francesca Nicolosi; Angelo Encinas, Addisyn and Brayden Lask; Dylan and Noah Marik. He was also blessed with a beloved great-granddaughter, Amelia Encinas.
Angelo was deeply rooted in his large Italian family. He was the cherished brother of Frank Nicolosi (wife Ruth and daughter Kimberly), Philip John Nicolosi, Joseph Nicolosi, and Paul Nicolosi (wife Deborah, and daughters Sophia and Alexandra). He also leaves behind numerous cousins, aunts, and extended family members who adored him.
Angelo treasured his connections with his wife’s family, his second “Steator family,” including sister-in-law Diana (Koral) Ensign (husband David and their children), sister-in-law Lori (Koral) Welch (husband Tim and their children), brother-in-law Eli Koral (wife Deborah and son), and brother-in-law Larry (Lynn) Koral.
He was preceded in death by his father, Philip A. Nicolosi; his mother, Rosemary (Licari) Nicolosi; his father-in-law, Eli Koral; his mother-in-law, Roberta (Rubis) Koral; and his beloved grandparents, Frank and Frances (Furino) Licari, and Angelo and Grace (Crapanzano) Nicolosi.
A Life Well-Lived
Angelo was a proud graduate of Boylan High School (class of ‘68) in Rockford, NIU in DeKalb, and the National University of Chiropractic in Lombard, Illinois. A chiropractor by profession for the first half of his life, later Angelo was also a window and siding salesman who loved meeting people in their homes and getting to know their life stories. Angelo was also an avid writer who continued to craft captivating short stories until his final day. Angelo was a true family man who found immense joy in family gatherings, cars, history, and chewing on a good cigar—though he rarely smoked them.
Known for his larger-than-life personality, Angelo’s booming voice, quick wit, and love for storytelling left an indelible mark on all who knew him. He was outgoing, a humorist, and deeply intellectual, with a lifelong passion for reading and writing. Fiercely devoted to his wife Pamela, he was her partner, protector, and greatest admirer.
Angelo was tough yet caring, firm yet compassionate, and had a rare gift for making everyone he met feel valued and seen.
