Andrew “Andy” S. Frisella, 97, of Rockford, died on Saturday, August 12, 2017. He was born in Chicago on December 3, 1919; son of Benny and Margaret Frisella. Andrew was married to his loving wife, Rosalie (Rinaldo) Frisella on April 19, 1952; in Chicago, Illinois. He worked as a machinist for 35 years in Rockford, retiring in 1976. Andrew proudly served his country for 5 years in the United States Army as a Seaman, during World War II. He was a faithful member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and the St. Mary’s Club. Andrew loved playing cards, BINGO, Scratch Off games, and Sunday night spaghetti dinner with his family. He lived his life simply, worked hard, and always put his family first. Andrew will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend.
Andrew is survived by his daughters, Janice (Rick) Correnti and Judy (Tim) Ives; grandchildren, Shana Peters and Marc (Amy) Correnti; great grandchildren, Aidan Peters and Sam Correnti; siblings, George Frisella and Carmella Schmitt; and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife, Rosalie, and 5 siblings. Andy’s family would like to thank Debbie, Dan, Raymond and the rest of the nursing staff of the Cardinal Wing at River Bluff Nursing Home and Dr. Aaron Coates for all of their kindness and care.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 18, 2017; at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 8616 W. State Rd., Winnebago, IL, 61088. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 3910 N. Rockton Rd., Rockford, IL 61103; on Friday prior to the committal. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be given to: Heartland Hospice.
