Andre P. Jones

Andre P. Jones, 67, of Rockford, IL, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, October 4, 2022. He was born on May 4, 1955, in Chicago, IL, the son of Willie and Rose Marie (Blackshire) Jones.

Andre was a proud veteran of the United States Army and worked many years at schools in maintenance and custodial services. He liked to take walks, collected coins and Hot Wheels, and enjoyed a model train set. Andre loved his family and dogs, Shadow and Trouble, and enjoyed having a good time. His presence will be greatly missed by all who knew him

Andre is survived by longtime companion and wife of 29 years Mamie Jones; brother Lamar Jones; sisters, Balaria Bagsby and Debora Jones and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Willie Jones Jr. and sister, Ethel Bertha.

A visitation will take place on Monday, October 10, 2022, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory – Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Avenue, Rockford IL. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Ephesians Missionary Baptist Church, 1112 Taylor Street, Rockford, IL 61101 with funeral service to follow at 11:00 am. Interment with Military Honors will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Andre’s name to Mamie Jones.
