Amzie L. Nash

Amzie L. Nash, 66, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. He was born March 28, 1951 in Kosciusko, Mississippi, son of Amzie Nash JR. and Priscilla Shaw. Amzie is predeceased by his father, Amzie Nash Jr. and his step-sister, Barbara Jean Shaw. Amzie graduated from Woodruff High School in 1969 in Peoria, IL and attended Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL. Amzie moved to California in 1972, married his wife, Mary Ellen Scalise in January 1973 and started and became owner of “AMAJ Cleaning”, a commercial and residential cleaning business until his retirement in August 2012. He especially loved and enjoyed his two new 8-month old grandkids, Audrina Hope Nash and Tristan Nash. Amzie also enjoyed testing his luck with lottery scratch-offs and he took pleasure in reading and liked all science fiction movies and TV shows.
Amzie is loved and will be missed by his wife of 44 years, Mary Ellen; children, Amzie C. Nash and his wife, Wendy of Algonquin, IL, Joseph A. Nash and his wife, Tenna of Malmo, Sweden; Mother, Priscilla Shaw of Peoria, IL; siblings Earl Nash and Gail Nash of Peoria, IL; step-brothers, Joel and James Shaw of Peoria, IL, new grandchildren, Audrina and Tristan as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A “Celebration of Amzie’s Life” will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to the family for a memorial to be established in Amzie’s name. The family of Amzie L. Nash wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of OSF St. Anthony Medical Center Neuro Trauma ICU for the wonderful and compassionate care given to him in the final days of his life.
