Amy L. Hill, 92, formerly of Rockford, passed away May 15, 2018 in Petersburg, Indiana. Born May 22, 1925 in Rosetta, Mississippi; she was the daughter of William G. and Mary (Green) Tillery.
She retired from Chrysler after 25 years of employment. Amy was a member of United Auto Workers Local 1268 where she was the liaison for the Women’s Committee to the International United Auto Workers Union. As member of the Winnebago Elected County Board, she was also part of the Budget and Allocation Committee for Winnebago County.
Amy was a longtime member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church. As an avid volunteer, she gave much of her time building God’s Kingdom at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. She also volunteered for the Northwest Community Center and the Senior Center.
She loved fishing, playing bingo and spending time with her family.
She is lovingly survived by her children, Eddie (Bea) Houi, Harriet (Edwin) Green, Pamela Spearman, Rhonda Johnson and Theodore “Ted” (Selma) Hill; 13 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 14 great, great-grandchildren.
Amy was preceded in death by her parents, grandson, Damon Houi; sister, Gladys Montgomery and her brother, Archie Tillery.
Funeral Service 12 noon on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, 2919 19th Street, Rockford. Visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
