Amelia Huitzacua Morales Nichols, 99, of Rockford, IL passed away on Wednesday, June 9, 2021.
Amy was born September 13, 1921 in Rockford, IL to the late Rafael and Rafaela Huitzacua. She was the oldest of 10 children. Amy married Trinidad Morales in 1939 and they were together for 32 years having 7 children. Several years after Trinidad passed, she married Anton Nichols until his passing in 2003. Amy was a housewife until after her youngest child was in school. She was very proud of her job as a CNA at Swedish American Hospital, working there until her retirement. At that time, she began doing private duty for numerous elderly individuals. Amy enjoyed numerous crafts, traveling, time with her family and her church. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s in Rockford.
Amy is survived by 4 of her sons, Thomas, David and Adrian of Rockford, Gregory of Memphis, TN, along with her daughter, Rosalie Sharps of Washington, WV; 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Justina Ramirez of California and Maria Hernandez of Rockford; daughter-in-law, Deanna Morales of Aurora, IL. She is predeceased by her 2 sons, Daniel and Charles Morales and grandson, Justin Morales.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Oratory, 517 Elm St. Rockford, IL 61102. Final resting place will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to St. Mary Oratory.
