Amelia Ahles, 90 of Rockford, died Monday, July 01, 2013 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. Born October 15, 1922 in Hurley, WI the daughter of Louis and Angelina DalCollo. Graduate of New Milford High School and married the love of her life, Donald Ahles 71 years ago on February 14, 1942. Amelia worked as a teacher’s aid for St. Edward Catholic School and Ken-Rock and rounded out her teaching career as a third grade teacher at St. Bridget Catholic School in Loves Park for 17 years, retiring in 1984. She also took time to teach CCD at St. Edward’s, was a Girl Scout Leader, member of St. Edwards Seniors Club and is a lifetime member of the Harmony Club. Her hobbies included traveling, playing Bunco with the same group for the last 50 years and she was well known for being the Master Sender of greeting cards. She made sure never to miss a special occasion or moment and she made sure she took time to write a little note in every card. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Presence Cor Mariae and to all of her family and friends that have been praying for her these last couple of years. Survivors include her husband, Donald Sr. of Rockford; children, Pam (Mark) Thate of Roscoe; Darla (Dennis) Tritt of Rockford and Rev. Donald Ahles of Genoa; 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and sister, Erma (Jack) Reppen of Rockford. Preceded in death by her parents, 2 grandchildren and her sister and brother in law, Rosie (Loren) Kendall. Funeral Mass Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at St. Edward Catholic Church, 3020 11th Street, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held in St. Mary/St. James Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 from 5-8 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel 1860 S. Mulford Rd. In lieu of flowers please have a Mass said in her name at your parish or send a memorial to Presence Cor Mariae Center, 3330 Maria Linden Dr. Rockford, IL 61114.
