Allen Mccrea Olson

Allen McCrea Olson, age 82, Rockford (formerly of Belvidere) beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away July 9, 2021.

He was born on June 22, 1939 to Chester and Mildred (Masterson) Olson in Rock Rapids, IA. The family moved to Inwood, IA when Al was a young boy. He grew up there and graduated from Inwood High School, Class of ’57. He lived an adventurous life as a young man and held several interesting occupations. Al was united in marriage to Patricia Moran on January 21, 1967. Together they had two sons. He worked many years in the fastener industry and retired from the Illinois State Tollway. Al loved listening to classic country music, watching old westerns, reading mystery novels and rooting on the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears. He enjoyed visiting with his many friends, including his pals from the Belvidere VFW who affectionately knew him as “Hawk”. Most of all, Al enjoyed spending time with his family. Al is survived by his wife of 54 years, Pat of Rockford, IL; his son Mike (Kelly) Olson of Saint Charles, IL; his grandchildren Andrew and Olivia Olson of Saint Charles, IL; and numerous extended family members. He was predeceased by his parents Chet and Milly Olson; his son Jay Olson; and his brother Blaine Olson.

Al was kind and sincere. He was honest and loyal. And he always knew how to make people laugh. His wit and wisdom touched many. He will be missed dearly.
