Allen L. Jones

Allen “Uncle Baldy” Jones, 81, of Rockford, passed away Monday, February 28, 2022, in his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Al was born September 28, 1940, in Denver, Colorado to Amos and Phyrne (Bashline) Jones. Al attended West High School, graduating in 1958. He married Penny Cramer in Oregon, IL on August 17, 1983. Al retired from Rockford Products after 42 years of employment. He was a member of the SM&SF Club and Moose Club. Al and Penny loved being outdoors and enjoyed spending their summers and winters teaching their nieces and nephews to camp, fish, and cook at their properties in Wisconsin. He also loved trap shooting, playing cards, bowling, and playing his harmonica around the campfire. Al and Penny also loved traveling to Las Vegas multiple times a year with their friends Denny and JoAnne Shearer. Al was an avid Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan. He was a huge family man and loved to be surrounded by those who loved him the most. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, brother, uncle, and friend to many. His nieces and nephews loved him immensely and will always cherish the time spent together and the memories shared with him.

Al is survived by his wife Penny of 38 years; sisters Janet Doty and Linda Jean (Gary) Swisher; brother-in-law Perry (Judy) Cramer; niece Christina (John) Stewart; nephews Rick (Rebecca) Calverley, Andy (Christine Culp) Calverley, Jonathon (Alyssa) Cramer; great-niece Nicole Cramer and Lauren Calverley; great-nephew Declan Cramer; daughters Kallie (Patrick) Bailey and Vicky (Alec) Lay; grandsons Lucas and Mark Lay; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Al is preceded in death by his parents; in-laws Katherine Cramer, Ralph (Blanche) Cramer; brother-in-law Jerry Doty; sister-in-law Pat Calverley; nephew Darryl Doty; niece Lynda (Jon) Routt.

A Celebration of Life Luncheon will be held on Saturday, June 11th from 11:30 am - 2:30 pm at the Belvidere Moose Club 575 Beloit Road, Belvidere, IL.
