Alice Pearl Johnson, 101, of Rockford, IL, passed away on December 10, 2021, in Wesley Willows. She was born on April 21, 1920 in Rockford, IL to Lawrence P. and Pearl (Redin) Dahlstrom.
Alice was a graduate of Rockford High School, Class of 1938, Rockford College, Class of 1942 and Rockford Business School, Class of 1943. She worked for 30 years at First Federal Savings and Loan, serving as Secretary to its three Presidents – H. Stanton Burpee, Robert H Stroker and Daniel J. Nicholas. She married George J. Johnson on April 6, 1957. Alice belonged to the Rockford Secretaries Association, Quota club of Rockford, Rockford Woman’s Club, Mendelssohn Club and the Ostende Dance Club. She served as President of all of them except the Mendelssohn Club. In her spare time, Alice enjoyed dancing, golfing, hiking and traveling. Alice lovingly cared for her invalid mother, Pearl, for many years.
Survived by nephews, Roger (Joyce) Kilmer, William (Donna) Johnson; niece, Ginger (Wendell) Allen; cousins, Sue Rapp, Marcia Johnson, Paula Clement and Don Peterson. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, George on January 19, 2011 and many cousins.
A memorial service will be held at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Avenue, Rockford, IL 61103 on Thursday, December 23rd at 10:30 a.m. Those unable to attend services in person may join live via Zoom using Meeting ID: 871 4943 9912 and Passcode: 123. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Alice’s name to the Good Samaritan Fund at Wesley Willows. Current guidelines pertaining to mask and social distancing must be observed.
