Alfred "Dan" Torrisi

Alfred “Dan” Torrisi, 90, of Rockford, passed away on Monday, July 17, 2017. Dan was born in Beloit, Wisconsin on May 28, 1927; to Alfred and Alma (Nelson) Torrisi. On June 5, 1948, he married Gloria Pegnolone. Dan was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving in World War II. He was employed by the United States Postal Service for 35 years, serving as a mail carrier and spent last several years as manager of the Loves Park Post Office. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, enjoyed fishing, was an avid golfer and a Chicago Cubs fan. Dan was a member of St. Bernadette Church for 45 years, frequently serving as an usher.

Dan is survived by his wife, Gloria; son, Daniel (Cynthia) Torrisi; daughters, Alexandra and Elizabeth (Jon) Kehoe; son, James (Vinni) Torrisi and his sons, Philip and Benjamin. He is also survived by three great grandchildren, Max, Eli, and Cecilia Kehoe, as well as numerous nieces, and nephews. Dan was one of fourteen children and is survived by siblings, Earl and Edward Torrisi, Sandra (Tom) Burt, as well as in-laws, Pete Ivers, Pat and Bonnie Torrisi.

He is predeceased by his parents; brothers, Robert, Sam, William, Jack, Doug, and Gary Torrisi; sisters, Barb Ivers, Pat Citta, Margie Patterson, and Sharon Torrisi. The Torrisi Family extends a heartfelt thanks to the loving, kind and compassionate nursing and hospice staff at the LaSalle Veteran’s Home in LaSalle, Illinois.

There will be a funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 20, 2017 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2400 Bell Ave., Rockford, IL, 61103; with a visitation from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass. Private family burial at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Poor Clares, 2111 S. Main St., Rockford, IL, 61102.
