Alex J. Maggio

Alex J. Maggio, 80, of Loves Park, passed away at 7:05 p.m. on Tuesday, October 9, 2007 in his home surrounded by his loving family following a courageous battle with cancer. Born August 24, 1927 in Rockford; son of Peter and Mary (Abate) Maggio. Married Antoinette Perno in 1950 in Rockford; she predeceased him on May 28, 2002. Alex was self employed as an electrical contractor in the Rockford. He served in the Army during WWII and was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Survivors include his daughter, Mary Ann Maggio; son, Phillip (Dawn) Maggio; grandchildren, Cortney and Whitney Maggio; brother, Louis (Sherry) Maggio; sister, Pat Edwards and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife, Antoinette, parents, sister, Pauline Pumilia and brother, John Maggio. The family would like to thank Dr. T. Skuli Agustsson and Dr. William R. Edwards and their staff and OSF Hospice for their kindness and compassion during dads illness. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 13, 2007 in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with Franciscan Friars officiating. Burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
