Alberto Scuderi, 72, Rockford, died at 2:00 a.m. on Monday, November 1, 2010 while visiting his birth place of Tunis, Tunisia.nbsp; Born January 9, 1938 , son of Gioacchino and Maria Siragusa Scuderi.nbsp; Married Caterina Eterno in Italy on July 22, 1961.nbsp; They came to Rockford 38 years ago from Italy and he began his career working at Winnebago Cabinet.nbsp; He then spent 20 years working for Mattison Machine Works and retired from Fastener Engineers.nbsp; Through all of these years he was also self-employed as a residential painter. Member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.nbsp; Alberto was a very proud, self disciplined, hard working man with a constant entertaining sense of humor.nbsp; He loved soccer, watching wrestling and had a passion for fishing. Alberto was also a very giving person who had a great zest for life and never complained.nbsp;nbsp; His connection to nature was exemplified by his beautiful gardens and ability to nurture the growing of anything that was planted. nbsp;He had a deep appreciation for the mountains and the oceans, where he enjoyed underwater fishing. He was an elegant man who spoke 5 languages and lovingly saw everyone as equal.
Survivors include his wife, Caterina; daughters, Maria (John) Murphy and Virginia (Jon) Suyko all of Rockford; son, Jack (Connie) Scuderi, Davis Junction; grandchildren, Angelo and Jacob Scuderi, Nikolas and Samuel Suyko and Briana Murphy.nbsp; Also survived by his sisters, Pina Piacentino, Lucia Ecora and numerous nieces and nephews.nbsp; Predeceased by his parents; his youngest son, Angelo, infant twin sons and his sister, Carmela and his brother, Salvatore.
Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 15, 2010 in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with the Franciscan Friars officiating.nbsp; Burial in Calvary Cemetery.nbsp; Visitation from 2-4 p.m. Sunday in Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with a Rosary to be recited at 3:30 p.m.nbsp; Memorials may be made to the family.nbsp; Express condolences and share memories at www.fitzgeraldfh.com.
