Albert Peila, 93, of Rockton, passed away October 3, 2017 at Highview in the Woodlands. Born November 19, 1923 in Rockford, the son of Charles & Maria (Castiglone) Peila. Graduated from West High School, class of 1941. Albert served the U.S. Navy, Pacific Theater, during WWII. Married Mary Cullen In Rockford on August 23, 1947. They just celebrated their 70th year anniversary. Albert worked as a supervisor for Special Machine Co, then later retired as a supervisor from Rockford Specialty. Charter member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, and spending time with his family. He was known as a “handyman” able to fix anything and very reliable.
Survivors include beloved wife Mary; sons John and Thomas (Diane) Peila; daughter Patricia Russo; grandchildren Alicia, Michelle and Anthony of Michigan, Ryan (Christy) Russo, and Janelle Sester. Great grandchildren Addison, Lylla, Charlotte and Joseph; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents; grandson Steven Russo; brothers Joseph and Armand; sister Angeline.
Funeral mass will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 9, 2017 at St. Bernadette Church. Burial at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.
