Alan R. Lisk, PhD., 73, of Rockford, was called home, after a brief illness, on Saturday, January 2, 2016. Alan was born in Chicago on December 1, 1942; to parents, Robert and Estelle (Peterson) Lisk. Alan married his loving wife Jean (Miller) Lisk in 1965, in Clarendon Hills, IL. He served his country in the United States Coast Guard, stationed in Hawaii. Alan was highly accomplished in his academic ventures, but was also very humble about his achievements. He received his PhD. in Business from Temple University in Philadelphia, and went on to teach business at several Universities around the country. Alan and his wife Jean were faithful members of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Rockford, where Alan served as Lay Minister for the past three years. Alan will be remembered for his sense of humor, his passion for life, and his humble nature.
Alan is survived by his wife, Jean Lisk; his two children, Heather Rakosnik and Travis (Amy) Lisk; and his four grandchildren, Justin and Payton Rakosnik, and Andy and Natalie Lisk.
He is predeceased by his parents.
A celebration of Alan’s life will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2016; at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2821 N. Bell School Rd., Rockford, IL, 61107; with Rev. Dr. William Ward officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Westminster Presbyterian Church in Alan’s honor. Funeral arrangements cared for by Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 3910 N.
