Alan R. Lundin, age 65, passed away peacefully, yet unexpectedly, on 1/25/2023.
Alan lived life with humor, athleticism, loyalty, intelligence, and that special “Swedish determination.” Diagnosed in 2007 with Parkinson’s Disease, he never let it define him. A proud graduate of Rockford East High School and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Alan was a passionate E-Rab and Illini football and basketball supporter. And, through thick and thin, Alan was a Chicago Cubs, Bears, and Blackhawks fan.
After a long and fulfilling career as a Dairy Health Specialist III with the State of Illinois, Alan’s retirement was spent with family and friends happily pursuing his many interests which included golfing, fishing, and playing tennis. What Alan enjoyed most, however, was time spent with his daughter Haley. He was the best father, tennis coach, “horseshow dad” and friend imaginable.
Alan is survived by his loving wife of 43 years Susan, daughter Haley (Brett) Ladd of Cherry Valley, brother Gerald Lundin of Maitland, FL, sisters Joyce (Lyn) Pond of Roscoe IL, Suzanne Gugliuzza and Nancy (Tim) Seiter of Rockford, IL, numerous nieces and nephews and sister-in-law Dorothy Hawkes of Verona, WI. Predeceased by parents Chestine and Earl Lundin of Rockford.
Alan loved his dogs, horses, and all the animals Susan and Haley “brought home.” In memory of Alan, please consider donating to an animal charity of your choice or Knockout Parkinson’s Rockford at https://knockoutparkinsonsinc.org/donate
A celebration of Alan’s life will be held Thursday, February 16, 2023, 3:30 pm – 6 pm at The Bricks Venue Center, 125 S. Walnut Street, Cherry Valley Il 61016.
