Adeline M. Sondgeroth, 74, a lifetime resident of Rockford, passed away on December 24, 2009 in her home surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Adeline was born on July 11, 1935 in Rockford, the daughter of Sam and Connie (Tabone) Colombo. Adeline married Bernard Sondgeroth on May 18, 1957.

Adeline was a devoted homemaker and worked in food service for the Rockford Public Schools. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Red Hatters, St. Marys Group, St. Bernadette Senior Association, St. Bernadette Support Group, Alpha at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center, was a blood donor for many years, having received a certificate for donations accumulating one gallon (which she received Sept. 8, 2000), and donated her time to help children read through the America Reads Program with Rockford Public Schools. Adeline enjoyed spending time with her family, was active in league bowling for several years, loved casino hopping with her sister Johann who was her best friend, antiqueing and garage saleing.

Adeline is survived by her children, Lori Jensen, Steve (Sue) Sondgeroth, Linda (Don) Michealchuck, and Karen (Dan) Hansen; grandchildren, Matthew Jensen(Megan Johnson), Eric (Kendra) Jensen, Luke Jensen, Tim Stuker, Leslie and Anna Michealchuck, and Ashley Bark; great-grandchildren, Alexis and Lillian; sister, Johann DalSanto; brother, Joe (Jo Anne) Colombo; sister-in-law, Marilyn Quinonez, and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Adeline was predeceased by her parents and her husband Bernard (June 5, 1999). A special thank you to Dr. Edwards, Jeanne and the staff at ACT Medical Group, and VNA Hospice for their care and support through her illness.

Funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at 10 A.M. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Road, with Rev. Msgr. Thomas E. Bales officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 29 from 5 8 P.M. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave., and on Wednesday from 9 A.M. until time of mass at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date.
