Loving Husband, Father and Grandfather

Adam R. Bob Todd, 95 of Rockford, died, Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at St. Anne Center. Born, Sept. 15, 1913 in Oak Park, IL the son of Adam and Laura L. (Alguire) Todd. Married his loving wife of 71 years, Ruth Peterson on August 21, 1937. Worked for over 38 years for Continental Bakery Company as a Driver/Salesman, retiring in 1974. He then began driving for his son at Todd Transit where he made many friends. Bob is a member of Second Congregational United Church of Christ and the YMCA Retired Mens Club. He is a former member of the Dons and Dolls square Dancing Club and the Moose Lodge. He was the founder of the Ball Room Dancing Club at the YMCA, enjoyed gardening, planting raspberries, fishing and golfing. Bob also volunteered his time reading to children at Gregory School. Survivors include his wife, Ruth of Rockford; son, Richard (Linda) Todd of Rockford; daughter, Judy Reneker (Bill) Burd of Indiana; grandchildren, Michael, Sherry, Jason, Randy, Rob, Rick and Renee; 20 great grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild. Preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Les and Jim and sisters, Ethel and Janie. Funeral Service Saturday, January 17, 2009 at Second Congregational United Church of Christ, Chapel, 318 N. Church St., Rockford, IL at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. J. Michael Solberg officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 16, 2009 in the Church Chapel from 5-7 p.m. and will continue on Saturday in the chapel from 12-12:45 p.m. Interment will be private in Arlington Memorial Park.
