Robert J. Nimmo

Robert J. Nimmo, 79, of Rockford, passed away at his home on March 20, 2023. He was born in Dixon on July 27, 1943 to Jim and Doris Larson Nimmo. Served in the U.S. Air Force from 1961-1965. Bob married Georgiann Carlson on August 28, 1965 and they celebrated 57 years together. He was employed by the City of Rockford Water Division for 33 years and served as Superintendent for 15 years, retiring in 2002. Bob enjoyed traveling with Georgiann, camping with friends, fishing, boating and playing a slot machine or two. The best was quality time spent with family, especially with the grandkids at the lake where they enjoyed his “grandpaisms”. He was a positive man who appreciated being around people.

Survived by his wife, Georgiann; son, Robert Nimmo, Jr. (Lorrie), daughter, Susan Middleton (Jamie); grandchildren, Austin, Abby, Jennifer, Brett (Katie), Robin (Alisha) and great-granadchildren, Bella ad Makayla; brothers, Paul Harring (Carla) and Allan Harring. Predeceased by his parents, Doris Harring (Koll) and Jim Nimmo (Deane), brother, Thomas Nimmo and sister, Greta Pettersen.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 24, 2023 in St. Edward Catholic Church. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation from 9:00 a.m. until time of the service at the church on Friday. Memorials may be made to St. Edward Catholic Church or Carpenter’s Place, 1149 Railroad Ave, Rockford, IL 61104.
