Ramon “Mony” G. Lopez, 86, of Rockford, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2022.
He was born on August 31, 1936 in California and later moved to Rockford where he owned and operated his own auto mechanic shop, Ray’s Automotive, until his retirement. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling to Los Angeles and Mexico. He was a big fan of the Three Stooges but would never turn down a good western movie. He was well known for his kindness, generosity, and willingness to help anyone.
Ramon is survived by his loving wife of forty-three years Cathy, brother-in-law Jose (Marisa) Bernachea, nieces and a nephew whom he helped raise, Mariah (Joe) Schneider, Mercedes (Brent Bergin) Bernachea, Mark (Kristen Wicke) Bernachea, great-nephew Joseph “Jr.” Schneider, niece Mabel (Ramon) Reynosa, great-nephew Jesus, great-niece Mariluz and other family across the country.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford with Reverend William Wentink officiating. Burial in Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until time of services on Wednesday at the funeral home.
