Maria “Patty” Edith Moctezuma, 51, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on July 17th, 2021. She was born on February 15, 1970 in Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato to Pedro and Maria Moctezuma. She obtained both her GED and Associate in Liberal Arts from St. Augustine Community College in Chicago, IL.
Maria was an outstanding bilingual paraprofessional in a Dual Language classroom. She was very dedicated to her work and always went beyond her duties to help others. She was kind, caring, patient, knowledgeable and had high expectations for all her students. She always had a positive attitude and she encouraged her students to do their best. Maria’s performance in the classroom is incomparable. As a friend she was a great listener, trustworthy, loyal and faithful. She always gave the best advice to others and made others feel positive about themselves. She also portrayed a sense of peace to others. As a mother and grandmother she was always devoted to her children, grandchildren, family and friends. She was loved by many and left an impact in so many people's lives.
Patty taught many of us close to her that we should live life to the fullest. She would often refer to having one life, therefore we had to make it count. “No halfway anything, mediocre nothing”. She lived by those standards and principles as were witnessed by many with her own family, friends, students and coworkers and sometimes even only once encounters. Her passing leaves an irreplaceable void and a surreal loss to the fortunate ones that were part of her life. The ministry of family, friendship, and health was often experienced by inviting others to her home for Sabbath, holidays, and get- togethers without asking for anything in return. Her style, creative whims and flair to create and organize various activities such as a holiday program, birthday bash, and many church occasions were some of the many virtues our beloved Patty was blessed with. Patty wanted to share with the world that life was special and a true gift from God and therefore every day was an opportunity that mattered. She lived by the intent to appreciate any spiritual opportunity to witness to others of the love of God. Patty taught us some of the most important lessons one could live by even through the many struggles and challenges of her sickness. Patty was a mentor, teacher, friend, counselor, cheerleader to so many that crossed her path. Among the many things that she exemplified was to really love and be loved. A gem and one of a kind of human who comes along just “every so often”. We love you Patty and will attempt our best to live by the many principles you taught us and shared as your legacy. Until Jesus returns!
She is survived by her loving husband of 29 years, Hector Flores; Her children, Noemi Flores and Pedro Puentes; Her siblings, Miguel Moctezuma, Fernando Moctezuma and Marisela Moctezuma; her grandchildren, Angel Puentes, Jasmin Puentes, Joel Puentes, King Puentes and Harley Puentes, and her numerous nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.
