June V. Griffin

June V. Griffin, 92, of Rockford, IL passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2020 in her home with family by her side.

She was born in Vicksburg, MS on June 26, 1928, daughter of Charles H. Robinson and Emma Banks. June married James Griffin on September 4, 1946. He passed away January 29, 1991. She was a retiree of Amerock after 25 years. June was a dedicated member of her church and awarded first African American Woman of the Year for a Catholic Church. She loved to travel and spend time with her family. She will be truly missed. We love you Madear.

June is survived by her daughters, Eva M. Griffin of Rockford, Janice (Arthur) Glover of Texas and Edwynne M. Griffin of Rockford; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and 26 great-great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her parents; husband, James Griffin and her daughter, Emma M. Johnson.

Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2400 Bell Ave. Rockford, IL 61103. Final resting place will be in Willwood Burial Park, 7000 W State St. Rockford, IL 61102.
