Juan Floriano, 97, of Rockford died Saturday, June 11, 2011 at River Bluff Nursing Home. He was born June 24, 1913 in Mexico City. When he was 24 years old he moved to San Antonio, TX and then came to Rockford, IL. Juan was an honest man with great expectations of his family. He was pure at heart and loved his children and grandchildren. Juan was an avid Cubs fan and loved drinking his Bud. Before Juan moved to Texas, he played as a pitcher on a Mexico City Minor baseball league. He worked as a carpenter for many years. He worked at Midstates and retired from Eclipse. On August 8, 1968 he married Patricia Mendez- Tapia in Rockford. She preceded him in death August 24, 1998. Survivors include his children: Rachel Smith, Esther Cole, Patricia (Paul) Rodriguez, Eleanor Lyford, Jesse (Sandra) Tapia, Dave Tapia, Dan (Jane) Tapia, Elias Tapia, Ruth Rush, Robert (Lori) Tapia, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. He was predeceased by two daughters, Rebecca Swinehart-Graham and Hope Tapia. The family would like to thank the staff at River Bluff nursing home and Dr. Craig Rogers for the care they have given Juan.
