Joseph A. Gulotta

Joseph A. Gulotta, 90, of Rockford, IL passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2023. Born on October 22, 1932, in Rockford, IL, the son of Michael and Lena (Catalano) Gulotta

Joe was a lifelong member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. He was a graduate of St. Thomas High School in 1951 and then served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Joe received a bachelor and master’s degree from Rockford College in 1959 and 1963 and completed post-graduate work at NIU to secure certification Counseling and Guidance. He was married in Rockford, IL on September 12, 1959, to Marilyn Wagner. Joe was a 33 year employee for Rockford Public School District 205 as a Guidance Counselor. Joe was an avid sports fan having played basketball, softball and golf as a younger person. He was a life-long fan of the Green Bay Packers, St. Louis Cardinals, Boston Celtics and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

Joseph is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and great friends and neighbors. He is preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn on December 23, 2018, parents and sisters, Anna (Alex) Abate and Phyllis (R.C.) McDaniels.

Memorial Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 21, 2023, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1010 Ferguson Street, Rockford, IL 61102 with Visitation from 8:30 a.m. until time of Mass.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family of Joseph A.
