Jean C. Johnson

Jean C. Johnson, 99, of Rockford, passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2022.

Jean was born in Rockford on November 16, 1923, daughter of Joseph and Angela (Tavormina) Sciortino. She worked in the deli department for many dedicated years at Logli Supermarket on East State Street. Jean married Donald F. Johnson on September 27, 1958, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Rockford. She was strong in her faith and was a lifelong member of St. Anthony Church. Jean loved playing cards with her friends and family and cooking food for everyone to enjoy. She also enjoyed reading books and watching old movies on television. Most of all, Jean cherished her time spent with family, especially her dear grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving relatives include her children, Kathy (Perry) Rhodes and Don (Lee) Johnson; grandchildren, Allen (Dana) Rhodes, Daniel Rhodes, Brandon Johnson and Jamie Olson; great-grandchildren, Sloane and Crue Olson; numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Jean is predeceased by her parents; husband, Don Johnson; siblings, Joe, Carl, Pat and Sam Sciortino, Angela Butera, Margaret Priola, Mary Sullivan and Anne Ballinger, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 6, 2023, from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1010 Ferguson St. Rockford, IL 61102, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, also in the church. Final resting place will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum.
