Hnery V. "Hank" Nivinski, 83, a lifelong resident of Rockford, died on August 25 at River Bluff Nursing Home. Henry was born on January 19, 1924 in Rockford the son of Charles and Mary Nivinski.Henry graduated from West High School and ahd attended the University of Illinois for two years. He was a US Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Henry owned and operated Hank's Country Store at the corner of Central and Kilburn for 25 years and then retired from his security guard position at Barber Colman. He was a former parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards.Henry is survived by his son, Brett Nivinski; his daughter, Dawn Nivinski; his grandchildren, Brianna and Belanna Nivinski; his sister, Janet Nash; his longtime friend, Jan Gucciardo; his former wife Elizabeth Nivinski and numerous nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Marian Dosch and his brother, Charles Nivinski.A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 Am at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockkton Ave. with Fr. Peter Sarnicki officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. A Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10 AM until time of service.
