Grace Rose (Oddo) Benner, 99 Loving wife, mother, nana and great nana In loving celebration of her life Grace Rose (Oddo) Benner, 99, of Rockford, went home to be with our Lord with her loving family by her side at 1:45pm Monday, May 12, 2008 at Rockford Memorial Hospital from a sudden illness. Born on July 7, 1908 in Donaldsonville, LA; the daughter of Giuseppe and Rose (Sagona) Oddo. She married Eugene Daniel Benner on December 2, 1940. She worked for Rockford Mitten amp; Hosiery and retired from Amerock after 25 years of service. Grace was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church and a devout catholic. She loved Italian cooking, gardening and her flowers. She was proud of her family and was a role model of charity, kindness and compassion. Grace is survived by her daughter, Rose Ann (Ray) Grundstrom; granddaughter, Kimberly (Paul) Smith; great-granddaughter Autumn Rose Smith, who was her special joy; brother, Sam Oddo and many special nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband, parents; Lena Oddo, Phillip Oddo, Michael Oddo, Lillian Capriola, Mary Ingrassia, Frank Oddo Lucy Miranda and Mayme Gagliano. The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Robert Hahnel for his compassionate care and the staff at Rockford Memorial Hospital. Funeral Mass will be held 10:00a.m. on Friday, May 16, 2008 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church with Rev. Kenneth Stachyra officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00am until time of service at the church. Entombment in Sunset Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to the family.
