Dorothy Micinski, 83, Rockford, passed away Sunday, October 28, 2012, in Provena St. Ann Center. She was born November 26, 1928, in South Bend, Indiana, the daughter of Joseph and Regina Piechowiak. Dorothy married John Micinski in South Bend on August 28, 1948. John passed away in 1975. She was employed the Salvation Army Thrift Store and worked at the Woodward Governor Company for 15 years, retiring in 1992. Dorothy was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church where she was active with the Ladies of St. Bernadette and as an outreach volunteer. She also was a volunteer at the gift shop in Rockford Memorial Hospital. Dorothy was an avid Notre Dame and Cubs fan. Survived by her children, Kathy (Dick) Johnson of Ankeny, Iowa, Mary (Tom) Leach of Rockford, John (Clare) Micinski of Caledonia, and Ann (Phil) Spataro of Rockton; grandchildren of "Busia" AKA "Boo" , Kristi Johnson of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Kevin Leach of Rockford, Jackie Leach of Portland, Oregon, Rachael and Natalie Micinski, John and Alyssa Vitale, all of Chicago; sister, Gloria Walkowiak; brother, Joseph Piechowiak; sisterinlaw, Genny Lehner; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents and her husband, John. Dorothys family wishes to thank OSF Hospice and the staff at St. Ann Center for their kind and compassionate care. Thank you to all of the friends that visited Dorothy and sent her cards during her illness. Please wear purple in Dorothys honor. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am, Friday, November 2, 2012, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2400 Bell Av. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation from 8:30 am until 9:45 am on Friday in the Parish Center at the church. Arrangements by Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Av.
