Dick C. Rever, Sr.

Dick C. Rever, 74, of Machesney Park, IL, passed away Thursday, November 7, 2019.

Dick was born October 28, 1945 in Rockford, IL, son of George F. “Dutch” and Ruth E. “Dee” (Whitlock) Rever. He married Shirley Zastrow on October 2, 1965 in Rockford. Dick was an assistant parts manager at Fran Kral Lincoln Mercury for 30 years. He also was part owner of Revers Marina with his brother. Dick was a lifetime member of St. James Catholic Church in Rockford where he was an altar server in his younger years. He was a member of the Lombardi Club and enjoyed spending his free time at Mary’s place, socializing with many friends. Dick was a big fan of John Wayne and loved Western shows, as well as boating, fishing and spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed.

Surviving relatives include his loving wife, Shirley Rever; dear children, Sherry (Edmundson) Devenish and Richard Rever, Jr.; grandchildren, Savannah and Crystal Zarra, Krystian (Mikayla) Rever and Themba Devenish; great-grandchildren, Adrian Tucker, Leland and Whitton Massie, Emma Jo West and Aelin Rever; brother, James A. (Sharon) Rever; sister, Kathleen (Van) Morken and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents; brother, George E. “Bud” Rever; sisters, Patricia Nelson, Phyllis Chifos and Trudy Johnson.

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 13, 2019 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. Rockford, IL 61103. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, November 14, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at St. James Catholic Church, 428 N. 2nd St. Rockford, IL 61107. Burial will conclude in Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Winnebago, IL. The family would like to extend invitation to a Celebration of Dick's Life on Saturday, November 16, 2019 from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. at Mary's Place, 602 N. Madison St. Rockford, IL 61107.
