Carin June Adeline Belt

Carin June Adeline Belt, 97, of Rockford passed away Friday, May 12, 2023 at home with her daughters by her side holding her hands. Born June 14, 1925 in Rockford, daughter of Einar and Victoria Carlberg. Lived in the Rockford area her entire life and was employed by Sundstrand Aviation for 29.5 years until her retirement. Married Laverne Bookland with whom she had her two daughters. While working at Sundstrand she later met and married William “Bill” Belt who had five sons and they were married for 51 years until his passing on April 29, 2016. Carin and Bill built a home on 5 acres which she cherished and while living there she was able to carry on her lifetime love of animals by having her horses, goats, cats and many dogs. They gave her such joy. Carin had a hard work ethic and she excelled at sports including baseball, bowling and golf. She was a vibrant women with a competitive spirit, a quick wit and in her golden years she was often referred to as “feisty”. Carin and Bill enjoyed dancing, travel and playing cards with friends. Carin was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Carin had many friends over the years and especially, most recently, Doris Johnson and Carol Rose at Peterson Meadows.

Carin is survived by daughters Penny Johnson and JoAnn (Richard) Saunders; stepsons John (Cheryl) Belt, Jim (Susan) Belt, Bob (Ilajane) Belt, George (Nancy) Belt, and Tim (Carrie) Belt; grandchildren, Ryan Saunders, Alan (Gail Tang) Saunders, Eric (Amanda) Saunders, Ted (Marianne) Belt, Marsha (Matt) Radkowski, J.R. (Maura) Belt, Wes (Beth) Belt, Annika (Travis) Finster, Casey (Cassie) Belt, Jeff Belt, Jason (Pearl) Barry, T.J. Belt, Presleigh (Preston) Turner, Cassandra Sedakis and Collen Belt, as well as many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and special friend, Mary Murata. Predeceased by her parents, husbands, sister Caroline; brothers Claire, Clint and John; grandchildren Tracy Scroggins, Michael Belt, Todd Barry and nephew Allen Johnson.

A public visitation will be on Thursday, May 18, 2023, from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Road with a graveside service to follow at Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Noah's Arc Animal Sanctuary, 111 N. 1st St., Rockford, IL 61107 or to a charity of your choice.
