Anne C. Fairchild, 90, Rockford, died at 2:29 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2011 in Provena St. Anne Center.nbsp; Born June 12, 1920 in Chicago, daughter of Michael Charles and Anna Voss Zimmer.nbsp; Graduated sixth in her class from Northwestern University in 1942 where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Chi Omega sorority.nbsp; Married James Fairchild in Chicago on February 13, 1943.nbsp; He predeceased her.nbsp; She married Lieutenant Colonel Edwin A. Lutz in Rockford on May 18, 1996.nbsp; She was a member of the Cathedral of St. Peter and had served as the vice president of the Catholic Womens League.nbsp; She began her career in research and development for the A.B. Dick Co.nbsp; She spent time raising her children and then returned to her profession as the personnel manager of Clifford Berg and Associates.nbsp; She retired in 1976 after devoting 12 years as the Executive Director of the Rock River Valley Council of Girl Scouts.nbsp; Anne was a Brownie and Cadet Scout leader, member of the Winnebago County Garden Club and was on the Board of Directors of OSF St Anthony Medical Centers Auxiliary.nbsp; She was a member of the Pink Ball committee and served as their treasure. She was also a member of the Newcomers Club and was president of the Jessie I. Spafford Department of the Rockford Womans Club.nbsp; She served nbsp;as president of the St. Bridget Church Mothers Club, and was on the board of the Cathedral of St. Peter Home and School Association.nbsp; She was also a member of the Personnel Club of Rockford and was president for several terms of Quota International Club of Rockford as well as being treasurer of the Board of Directors of NIAAA.



Survivors include her husband, Lieutenant Colonel Edwin Lutz; children, Patricia Anne Evan, Michael James (Joan) Fairchild, Steven William (Sally) Fairchild and Mark Joseph (Margaret) Fairchild; grandchildren, Mary Anne Evan, Joan Marie Evan, Kelly Fairchild and Caroline Fairchild and her sister, Eleanor Kay Kate.nbsp; Predeceased by her parents, infant daughter, Veronica Martha; brothers, Charles and Edward Zimmer and son-in-law, John M. Evan.



A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 in the Cathedral of St. Peter with Rev. Joseph Naill officiating.nbsp; Burial in Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery.nbsp; Visitation from 6-8 p.m. Monday in Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with a Christian Wake service at 7:30 p.m.nbsp; Visitation also from 10-10:45 a.m. on Tuesday at the church.nbsp; Memorials may be made to Quota Internationl (for scholarship funds), 1420 21 st St. N.W., Washington, D.C. 20036 or Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois, Rock River Valley Council, 2101 Auburn St., Rockford, IL. 61103.nbsp; Express condolences and share memories at www.fitzgeraldfh.com.
