Madalene Lopiccolo

Madalene E.Cichella Lopiccolo, 90, of Rockford passed away at 10:55am Saturday, March 6, 2010 in Provena Cor Mariae.  She was born August 10, 1919 in Rockford. 


The daughter of Anthony “Nino” Festal and Rose Capriola.  She was married to Vito Cichella, he predeceased her in May of 1974, she then married Joseph Lopiccolo who predeceased her in October of 1981.  She worked for Nino’s Restaurant, Cerniglia’s Tavern, and managed the school lunch program at Barbor and Lathrop schools where she was affectionately known as “the lunch lady”.  Member of St. Anthony Church, Altar and Rosary Society and served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years.  Graduate of Muldoon class of 1936.


Survivors include: Sons; Chuck (Linda Bauer) Cichella of Rockford, Anthony (Kathy) Cichella of Rockford.  Grandchildren; John Carlson, Wendy (Dana) Beauchamp, Corrie (Tim) Strommer, Matthew Cichella, Tony Cichella of Wheaton, Brienne (Jeremy) Neisewander and Tim Cichella both of Chicago.  Several great grandchildren.  Many in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews and friends.  Daughter-in-law Carol Cichella.  Thanks to her special family; Jack Cerniglia, Sam Cerniglia, Mary Linda (Sam) Torchia, Rosanna (Fred) DeBoe and Jackie Cerniglia.  Also thanks to Provena Cor Mariae and all her friends at Christian Life Retirement Center.  Predeceased by her parents, two husbands, sister Marion Cerniglia, grandson Michael Cichella, great grandson DJ Beauchamp, and niece Sue Cerniglia.


Mass of Resurrection at 10am on Wednesday March 10, 2010 in St. Anthony Church.  Burial in Calvary Cemetery.  Visitation at Church on Wednesday from 9am until time of service.  Arrangements by Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory 1860 S.
